Head of Hockey and Sports Department Assistant
The Pocklington School Foundation is looking to appoint an exceptional Sports professional to join our established PE and Games department.
This is an exciting opportunity to undertake a key role in the management and development of Hockey at our successful co-educational and boarding School situated 12 miles East of York. We have a strong tradition of sporting excellence, participation and enjoyment and this is an ideal opportunity for an experienced and knowledgeable sporting professional to really shape this role and make it their own. The successful candidate will play a fundamental role in developing and implementing our bold Strategic Education Vision, alongside our Director of Sport, to make a significant impact on the sporting life of our School.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, resilient and highly organised individual with an appropriate coaching qualification. You will have played Hockey to a high standard in the past and you’ll have significant experience of coaching children. A sports coaching related degree would be advantageous but isn’t essential.
The ability to motivate, stretch and inspire children from 7 – 18 is crucial and you’ll have the ambition, drive and energy to further develop the role for the Foundation with a focus on growing strong, collaborative relationships with our key stakeholders and the wider community. You will lead the strategic development of Hockey, promote participation at all levels and support pupils to achieve to the best of their ability.
Candidates should note that the position is a wide-ranging one and the post holder will require a strong and flexible commitment to the needs of the Foundation. You will have the opportunity to be involved in other sports during PE and games lessons at both the Senior and Prep School as well as contribute to our outstanding boarding provision. In making the appointment, particular regard will be given to the potential exhibited by candidates as well as to their experience and for the right candidate there may be the opportunity of an Assistant Director of Sport role alongside the above role. Accommodation on site can be provided if required.
