The successful candidate will deliver high-quality swimming lessons in our exceptional 25-metre, 6-lane indoor swimming pool, contributing to both curriculum and co-curricular provision.
New Hall operates a Swim Club accredited by Swim England East Region, offering a comprehensive and high-performance training environment. Fixtures take place after school, with participation in the Mid Essex League providing excellent competitive opportunities for swimmers of all ages.
Key responsibilities:
- to deliver swimming lessons in line with Swim England standards and the quality expectations of New Hall School
- to follow the Swim England ‘Learn to Swim’ programme and produce structured lesson plans based on the scheme
- to be able to teach all levels of the Swim England ‘Learn to Swim’ programme.
- to deliver high-quality, safe and engaging swimming lessons to a range of ability groups.
- to assist in the development and continuous improvement of the swimming teaching programme
- to complete end-of-term swimmer assessments in line with programme requirements
- to communicate effectively with the Swim School Coordinator and swimming staff regarding swimmer progress.
- to maintain accurate records of lessons and pupil attendance
- to monitor and report on swimmer progress.
- to contribute to the organisation and smooth running of the Swim Programme.
- to be responsible for the safety and welfare of all swimmers and helpers on the poolside.
- to understand and implement Pool Safety Operating Procedures (PSOP).
- to ensure pool equipment is stored safely and report damaged equipment immediately.
- to maintain high standards of safeguarding and professional conduct at all times.
- to support the School’s competitive swimming programme where appropriate.
- to contribute positively to the ethos and co-curricular life of the School.
The successful candidate will be expected:
- to hold a Level 2 Swimming Teacher qualification or willingness to train
- to have strong awareness of health and safety in a pool environment
- to have good communication and customer service skills
- to have experience in a leisure, sports or school environment
- to have knowledge of pool plant operations or fitness suite supervision

New Hall School offers an exceptional working environment. The main campus occupies the stunning Grade I listed former Tudor palace of Beaulieu. The School’s conference and events venue is at the Grade I listed Boreham House, one mile away. New Hall is a warm, welcoming, and supportive community, with a staff of around 300.
Beaulieu Park railway station is at the entrance to New Hall’s Avenue: 30 minutes to Stratford and 38 minutes to London Liverpool Street. The Elizabeth Line at Shenfield (13 minutes by train) terminates at Heathrow airport. There are nearby airports: London Stansted, London Southend and London City.
