About the Role
As a key member of our department support team, you’ll work closely with the Head of Design and Technology and the Head of Technology to ensure our workshops and classrooms run smoothly and safely, supporting teaching staff and pupils across both our Senior and Prep Schools.
What You’ll Do
- Maintain a safe, compliant working environment in line with B.S.4163 and CLEAPSS standards.
- Support lessons from Years 3–13, including GCSE and A-Level projects.
- Prepare materials, operate specialist equipment (including CNC machinery), and assist pupils with practical tasks.
- Design and produce teaching aids, demonstration models, and prototypes.
- Keep workshops and equipment in top condition through regular maintenance.
- Manage stock, resources, and procurement to ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Help create stunning displays and exhibitions showcasing student work.
- Maintain accurate records for health and safety audits, equipment servicing, and asset management.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in a similar role within a school is highly desirable
- Practical skills and confidence in using a range of tools and machinery, previous experience of working in a workshop environment with a variety of tools and machines is required
- Possession of an appropriate current safety certificate for working with machines would be advantageous.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- A proactive, collaborative approach to supporting staff and pupils.
- Commitment to health and safety standards.
- Creativity and enthusiasm for design and technology.
