Library Assistant
The Library Assistant will support the daily operations, development and promotion of the library within the school to ensure the provision of an effective resource and information service to all pupils and staff across the Junior and Senior libraries.

Post title: Library Assistant (based in The Gilbert Library, Cathedral Close, Hereford HR1 2NG Salary: £18,527 - £21,914 depending upon experience and qualification (equates to a salary between £6,495 - £7,682 for the work pattern detailed below)
Point 9-15 on the support salary scale.
Hours/weeks: 2 days per week (16.5 hours), term time only (36 weeks per year)

General responsibilities:
To assist with research and project-based work in the libraries. To supervise pupils and run the library during the pupil’s lunch break and after school. To undertake the training and supervision of pupil assistants and monitors in appropriate library tasks.
Assist in planning and overseeing the management and organisation of the Libraries
Process, organise, promote and maintain all of the library stock, including cataloguing. Ensure equal access and an equality of opportunity for all pupils and staff
Optimise the use of IT including running the Library Management System, entering data, running reports etc.
Lead user education sessions when required in both how to use the Libraries and all equipment. Participation with the teaching staff in the planning and development of the school’s curriculum delivery, information skills, language policy and programmes
Ensure a high standard of display and promotional material to enhance the appearance of the libraries
To assist at Library events, after school if required
To cover for the Librarian where necessary
Guidance and assistance to pupils and teachers, supporting their use of library resources and their research.
Assist with stock selection and deletion, processing new books and financial data.
To oversee the overdue reminders and procedures. Any other duties which may reasonably be regarded as within the nature of duties and responsibilities of the posts as defined
REPORTING LINES
The post holder reports to the Head of Library and support will also be given from the Head of Learning Support.
